And just today Government’s BHIM app has received a major update on Android. The new update adds bug fixes and some new features, including support for new regional languages and a Spam Report feature. The new languages include Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati,

The new languages include Bengali, Odia, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam and Telugu. The update version is 1.2.0 and is available on Google Play right now.

The BHIM app uses the new Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform to make payments. It was developed and launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The app allows users to make Aadhaar based payments via the Internet. It requires your bank account number, and generates a secure PIN, known only to you, to authenticate purchases and payments. Version 1.2.0 of the app allows users to Pay to Aadhaar Number, which means you can simply input a person’s Aadhaar card number to make payments to their linked bank account.

The Spam Report feature, on the other hand, will help in blocking unknown persons from requesting money from you. There is also a new Customer Redressal Mechanism on the application. This is accompanies by new privacy settings and a feature to disable mobile-number@upi. You can also retry registration with mobiles, using UTP and USSD modes. Further, dual-SIM phone users can now choose which SIM to use with the BHIM app, and you can also restore a forgotten passcode.
